Georgia State at Appalachian State
Appalachian State -10 / -335 / 61.5
Since 2019 Appalachian State (App State) is 15-3 at home vs FBS teams. The 3-losses came from UNC and James Madison this season and U of Louisiana in 2020. Appalachian State has NEVER lost, home or road to Georgia State. Appalachian State QB Chase Brice ranks 52nd out of 273 (FCS & FBS QBs). Chase is 131/199, has 18 TD’s to 3INT, passed for 1,674 yards and 279 YPG for 12.7 per completion. Compare those numbers to Georgia State’s QB Darren Grainger who ranks 140th and is 83/149, 12 TD’s 5 INT, passed for 1,214 and 202 YPG for 14.6 per completion. Good news for Georgia State they have TWO (2) RB’s with great numbers. Jamyest Williams and Tucker Gregg have 403 and 460 respectively rushing in 6-games.

This game will be Georgia State’s first Sun Belt conference road game. Georgia State started 0-4 losing to South Carolina, UNC, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina. They went on the road and beat Army 31-14 and won at home vs Georgia Southern 41-33. The Georgia State offense is almost never on the field. For a team that runs the ball as effectively as any in the country, it doesn’t do a thing to control the clock. The Panthers are dead last in the nation in time of possession partly because they can’t come up with a third down stop. The Panthers' defense has been exploited by South Carolina and UNC of the ACC which has made some of their numbers look worse than they are. As for just FBS numbers, GS pass defense is 97th, rush defense is 106th. Overall “home and road” Georgia State is scoring 29.8 points (AVG) which ranks 65th in the FBS. GS gives up an average of 33.3 points which is 115th in the FBS. I don’t think we are going to see the over tonight, it could be possible but not likely. I do see Appalachian State winning the game and based on the presented data and past performance figures, App State covering -10 should not be an issue.
TAKE: App State -10
