UNLV at San José State

San José State -5.5 / -210 / 51.5

For the second consecutive Saturday, the San Jose State (SJST) football team WON! SJST won by resounding 33-16 road win at Wyoming (3-3, 1-1), the Spartans have established themselves as a major threat to replicate their 2020 feat of becoming Mountain West Conference champions. From a statistical perspective the game was dominated by San Jose State. 25 first downs to 10, a 456 to 253 yard advantage and a huge time of possession edge tell much of the story. Lastly, only two short missed field goals prevented a wider margin of victory. QB Cordeiro had a monster night running the offense, completing 21-37 for 314 yards and a touchdown, and adding 45 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. What’s becoming apparent is that the receiving core is virtually impossible to cover, there are simply too many weapons. Elijah Cooks was the leader of the pack against the Cowboys with 8 grabs for 177 yards. Running back Kairee Robinson enjoyed the first 100 yard game of his career and scored an early third quarter touchdown to give San Jose State a 26-10 lead. San Jose’s only loss was to Auburn on the road in week two 24-16. San Jose’s defense was on point during this game. Auburn lost the turnover battle in the game, Auburn threw two interceptions. QB Robby Ashford and QB Finley each threw one. The pick by Finley was his third of the season and led to the Spartans’ first field goal of the game. It could have been even worse for Auburn as Damari Alston, Keionte Scott and Robby Ashford each fumbled the ball but were able to recover the football.

Since 2019 San Jose State (SJST) is 10-5 at home vs FBS teams and since 2018 SJST is 3-1 (Home and Road) vs UNLV. Most importantly, SJST has NEVER lost to UNLV at Home. UNLV is 4-12 on the road vs FBS teams since 2019

The Cornhuskers were so desperate to get rid of Scott Frost, they paid him an extra $7.5 million so they didn’t have to wait a couple weeks for his buyout to decrease. Now they are playing under interim coach Mickey Joseph as a national search begins for someone capable of restoring this program to its former glory. Nebraska has RB Anthony Grant who is Ranked 6th in the nation in rushing. 600 rush yards, 120 per game and 5.2 per carry. QB Casey Thompson is ranked 50th overall, 1265 yards passing, 253 yards per game and 66% completion percentage.

This is the first true must-win game of Greg Schiano’s second go-around in Piscataway, because a loss will almost guarantee that his program takes a step back in the third year of this rebuild. Rutgers has no RB as a top rusher in the TOP 250 in the nation. At QB they have Evan Simon ranked 196th, 640 yards passing, 128 per game and a 60% completion percentage
