Friday and Saturday at Belmont should be fun to watch! Let’s see what the little mice can do: McCarthy, Davis, Carmouche and Gomez when the cat’s are away; Ortiz brothers, Rosario, Saez, Prat, and Franco. I happen to be a little bit partial to Big “D” and Jackie!!

Who’s your favorite jockey at Belmont?

Race 1 $37,000 Maiden Claiming 8F Dirt

2 Alite (5-1) C L Rodriguez - WIN 2nd $5.90

4 Marshal Dillon (6-1) L Cardenas - PLACE 7th

Speed, Speed and more Speed. Fantastic first race! I’ll take the one two punch!

#2 Alite did finish 2nd in the last race, only because he was chasing a rocketship called Nicholas James and still finished with a 1:37!! The #4 Marshal Dillon on paper looks out of place for this race until you watch the video replays. On paper the horse finished 5th 6 ¾ lengths behind the leader at 6.5F. In this race, the leaders set a 22.3 quarter and a 45.9 half and a horse called Yah Huh just flew by everyone for the win (note he races Friday). Here’s the thing… #4 Marshal Dillion just kept gaining and gaining with horse speed to spare. The 1-mile should be a breeze for him and Miss Kitty too. lol. EXACTA BOX (2.4)

Race 3 $96,000 Allowance Optional Claiming 8.5 Turf

#4 Safe Conduct (8-1) J Lezcano - WIN Win $14.60

#7 Kinenos (4-1 J Castellano - PLACE 4th

I am a little confused as to why the #4 Safe Conduct (8-1) and #7 Kinenos (4-1) are in this race. Both have been running higher grade stakes races at this distance and farther. Why are they coming down to an Allowance? Safe Conduct finished in the money 3 out the last 5 (all stakes level races). In the last 2 races Kinenos finished 4th (2 Mile Stakes) and 2nd (1 ¼ Mile Allowance). I don’t think the general public will bet Safe Conduct or Kinenos down below 5-1, so let’s take advantage of the high odds. EXACTA BOX (4.7)

Race 6 $90,000 Maiden Special Weight 7F Dirt

#7 Baltasar (6-1) - PLACE / SHOW Win $13.40 $5.90 $4.00

I find great betting value in #7 Baltasar (6-1) for Place/Show. Baltasar is a re-entry from May 1st, racing the same distance but it will be a change in surface. As a turf horse. In Baltasar's last two starts the horse has finished in the money at 6.5 & 6F. Manny Franco is the Jockey again which to me says Baltasar and Franco are becoming more familiar with each other.
