USC is headed to Berkeley to take on the Cal Golden Bears. Cal is in search of their first win of the season. Cal is 0-7 to start the year, and in the last 10-games 0-10, the worst start in program history. The Golden Bears are the first team in a Power Six conference to start their season with seven consecutive losses in over 40 years. But wait, it gets worse! In the last 20-games (anywhere) Cal is 3-17. In the last 12 home games they are 1-11 with their only win over Stanford in February 2022, 53-39. It still gets worse! Head-to-Head vs USC since 2018 they are 0-8. Can it get even more depressing? YES! Look at the teams ranked in scoring that they lost to; Southern (187th), UC San Diego (284), Texas State (285). Just to pile it on, Cal ranks 296th in effective field goal percentage and 354th in turnover percentage. Note: There are only 358 teams in D1.
USC has had a tough start to the year; however, they have played some dam tough competition. They lost to Wisconsin 64-59, Lost to Tennessee 73-66 and Upstart Florida Gulf Coast 74-61. USC has NEVER lost to Cal since 2017 and has won by 7-points or more during this time. In those head-to-head games, Cal averages 65 points and USC 81 with totals of 146. However, when USC plays at Cal, the averages change slightly to USC scoring 81 and Cal 67 with totals at 146.
Since the start of the season the team averages are as follows; USC scores 68 allows 69 with totals of 138. Cal scores 58, allows 65 with totals of 123. Again, USC faced strong defensive competition and Cal doesn’t resemble anything close to a defensive team.
You can put a ton of $$$ on the USC -350 money line and make a killing. The odds of Cal winning this game is less than 2%. I would also do some in-game betting, should Cal get a lead, the USC odds on money line may go lower and you could get a good price.. and the point spread could even drop lower (not sure about the vig).
